    1. Kristy fixed it;) We made it after a rather longish day. Although we got here by 4:30 Guatemala time, it still seemed to take forever. Our first flight ran smoothly, but the second one was a little bit more interesting. Our plane came in slightly late, and then it was oversold by one person and it took a while for us to actually board. Then, once we did, they were having organization problems and we were like half an hour late. However the pilot made up time and we were in Guatemala only ten minutes late. There was some turbulence on our flight, but it was no big deal and the movies/snacks got us through. Then after luggage and customs we started the two hour journey to the base. It took a while to get through Guat city but the roads weren’t bad until we started up the mountain. Anyway, we are at the base now and are just getting settled in before dinner. I’ll make sure to get some sleep, love you ❤

    1. Thanks Aunt Amy. I sure did sleep good but the waking up at 5:30 in the morning was tough! Today went so well and I feel so blessed to be here on this team to help and serve those around me and most importantly the Lord. Thanks for the comment!

  4. I was just 2 years older than you when I went on my first mission trip to the D.R. Like you, I was not fluent in Spanish and had no idea what to expect but it turned out to be a great experience. I pray God will use you and work in you in exciting ways. Have a great time with the people on the team and with the people you serve.

    1. I know that you went to the D.R., but I thought it was sooner;) anyway, though I may not be fluent in Spanish I am still able to interact and pick up some things with the kids and people around me and it is really exciting. I played with this one girl in the orphanage today and after a while I was able to understand everything (for the most part) that she said, granted she didn’t say much haha. I am having a great time, hope things are going well at home too. Love you

    1. Thanks Mrs. Adams. It truly has been a blessing in itself to be able to be here and bless others and serve, and in doing so showing them the love of God.

  6. I saw all the great pictures from today! Looks amazing. I love that you got to paint little girls nails and hold babies at the orphanage. I even saw you with a power tool😁. I worked today and then played a double header. I pitched both games. We won one and lost one. I’m super tired now. Kylee and a Hannah asked about you! I hope you are eating good. Sleep tight tonight and get up ready to serve, I love you!

    1. Yes, the work has been a bit of a stretch but I have truly enjoyed being able to interact with the kids at the work site and the orphanage. Today we finished painting the house. It’s amazing how you can transform a house from a concrete slab and the beginning of day one, and a fully painted and beautiful home at the end of day two. I hope you had fun pitching, and its *kylea by the way haha. I am eating good although it is a little out of my comfort zone to eat the food they prepare, if you don’t eat you won’t do well (but it isn’t that bad ;)). Tomorrow we are dedicating these homes and giving gifts and I can’t wait, but at the same time I am sad that tomorrow is my last day with the kids I have built relationships with (especially Louisa and Delmi). Love you too!!

  13. Sara, what an amazing day you had yesterday! So cool for you to dedicate the houses you built in just 2 days. What a great opportunity to share the gospel with the Guatemala people. I hope you are doing good. Are you getting car sick on the rides? Hope you are eating enough and sleeping good. Going out to the Conference Grounds today to visit Aunt Amy and Kris. It’s Olive’s birthday. I’ll have some ice cream for you!! I love you and continue to pray for you and the team daily! Thanks for keeping me updated. I love to see the pictures of you.

    1. It definitely was an amazing experience! Lots of tears, but overall a great day! I am not getting sick, and actually enjoying the excitement of the rides (most of the time at least). Aw I’m so sad that I missed going out to CRCG for the first time this year, but I guess since I am in Guatemala I cannot complain. I hope you wished Olive a happy birthday for me! Love her so much, and glad shes out of those terrible twos! Love you too!

So good to see the amazing things that are happening before your eyes. I miss you here and our backgammon set sits idle but I and glad to loan you out to the people of Guatemala so you can serve them and witness the power of God to change lives even as He works in yours. I love you and continue to pray for you each day. Dad.

  17. Last night in Guatemala! Can you believe it? We are anxious to have you home but we are so glad you had the opportunity to go on this trip. It has been great to follow the team through the pictures and Pastor Kevin’s blog. We had a good Father’s Day. We had to sing and go early to church, so the boys were missing your ability to drive them to church a little later! We had Grandpa and Grandma Cunningham over for lunch and went to Grandpa and Grandma TerHaar’s for dinner. We all missed you but prayed for you and the team. I even showed Great Grandma your pictures! Haven’t heard from CFA this week, so you’ll have to check in with them on Tuesday afternoon. We leave for Tripods on Wednesday. Have a great night of worship and safe travel home. If you still need souvenirs, you can always look at the airport😀. Love you lots.
