I am so excited for you as you go back to Guatemala! You are such a blessing and will be a huge help to all you meet. Praying for safety as you travel there and on the “roads” of Guate. Praying you don’t get sick and are able to do all you need to. Praying for the people you will meet…praying their hearts are being prepared and that the “tipping point of Eternity” is knocked over. I love you so much and am going to miss you…but I will be smiling as I imagine you playing perro….perro…gato. 🙂

  7. Hey there Kit Kat!

I am so beyond pumped for you to experience the glory of God in Guatemala. That same glory that we can see here in the States, but often fail to recognize as we move fast through our busy lives. I pray that you are able to slow down, take some deep breaths, seek God in everything especially the little things, and that you can reflect on this past year and see all the good that God has made happen. I am truly proud of you little sis and can’t wait to hear how God is using you.

    Love you tons,

  8. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and comments! I appreciate each and every single one of them.
We safely arrived at the base a few hours ago. We braved some intense traffic but we got here all in one piece, which is all we can pray for really.
I am so happy to be seeing the Guatemalan mountains once more. It just feels so right to be back here and I am so excited to be going out to the village tomorrow. But right now we are just settling in at the base, which is really just the peace I needed after the hurried moving around in the airports. The weather is perfect right now, no rain and not too hot. So your prayers are working!
Thank you again for your prayers and thoughts.

  12. First day of building homes is done! And it went really well. The weather was perfect all day today which is another answer to prayers. My team were hard workers at our house and after only 4 hours the concrete slab we had begun with was now looking like a home. It was difficult to talk with the family since they were mostly busy with hosting the lunch for all five teams. However, my highlight of the day was when we gave the children of the household sharpies and let them draw pictures on the outside of the house. That was really great to see these kids who had been running away from us and ignoring us were engaging in something beyond language. It was amazing. I also really loved how different this building experience has been from several years ago. Both experiences have been amazing, but I believe this one will stay with me longer. Now that I am older I actually understand what is we are doing and who we are doing it all for. Its not just a trip, it is a mission that has been given to us by God.
Thank you for the prayers, and please understand that I am reading all of your comments, I just don’t have enough time to respond to each one.
    Love, Katie

  13. Katie, I love how God is working already in your heart for this trip! Each trip is different and God knows what we need each time. My prayer is that this week your heart is broken for what has broken His heart. You are an amazing young woman who is making an impact in all that she does. Thank you for opening your hands and heart to follow Him and His nudges. Praying for another phenomenal night of worship! These are the moments I most miss and wish so badly to be there for. ❤ I love you so very much and am so proud of you. Keep your eyes on Him. 1Peter 4:11 "If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ." Every action you take bring glory to Jesus. Your serving heart is your act of worship! Praying that you continue to see God's will revealed ever more clearly for you. Love you MORE!

  21. Hello Katie:
As you may be getting ready to go to sleep after this emotional, wonderful day of dedicating the homes, I’ll pray for you as you continue His work in Guatemala. Praying you receive blessings as you continue to be a blessing and serve Him at the medical clinics over the next couple of days and as you finish up your journey.

  22. I would appreciate a few prayers, as I haven’t been feeling well these last couple of days, hence why no posts on Stucco day. But it hasn’t ever been so bad that i couldn’t do the work so that is a blessing. You will probably by now have seen the team post about dedication day written by my team. Cause wow, today was incredible. God’s presence was made known for me through the faces of the people we were serving. I was so thankful for the opportunity to finish painting my home this morning, because then we could form real relationships with our family that we had missed on the days prior. It was powerful and crucial to the success of our home. I have been incredibly moved by God this week and am excited to experience even more of him in the med clinics.
Thank you for your prayers, they are definitely working.

  23. oh my sweet girl, I am so sorry you are feeling lousy! Praising God with you that you were still able to accomplish what you wanted and that lives have been forever changed…yours included. ❤ Your team's post was perfect. I could just picture all that was happening! You had some divine appointments yesterday…having to get there early probably felt strange and not what you wanted to do at all BUT God had other plans for that time! 🙂 You had a more meaningful time with your family. You were not competing with the sounds of 30+ other people. You had time to spend with them…truly with them. I am so very proud of you and having been praying unceasing that God reveal Himself to you in profound and little ways. Praying that you are reminded once again that you are His daughter and He loves you so very much. Praying that as you struggle you begin to see that you are not alone that you always have someone with you. This morning as I prayed I asked God to give me a verse for you. This popped immediately to my mind and then I heard that you had been feeling crummy and it made more sense why God gave this to me. Isaiah 40:31 "But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."

It is not your strength you need to rely on…but God's. He will renew you. He will wipe your tiredness away. He will be there to help you finish strong. What do you need to do? Wait. Wait for the Lord. That is so hard for us. We want to go and go and go. (You are your father's daughter 😉 ) Sometimes He needs us to slow down and wait upon Him. Use that time when you don't have the energy, to talk with Jesus. Share with Him your struggles and then listen. Sometimes the only way we slow down is when we get sick or injured because physically we can't go on. Those moments are precious because we remember who gives us our strength. It is not by our own power but thru HIM that we are able to do so much.

Praying for you today as you make the switch from your families to a new village in need. Praying that sleep has renewed your body and spirit. Praying that today once again you see His great mercy and power. You are covered in prayer, my sweet girl. I love you MORE!!! Mom

  24. Katie, God prompted me with another Bible verse for you today. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

I love you so much and am praying for you today!
    Love you, Mom

ps. I let Ms. D know and she is covering you in prayer today as well! 🙂 ❤

  27. Hi Katie, Your dear mom let me know you were not feeling well. I KNOW the power of prayer as you and your family have faithfully prayed for me. It has been my privilege to bring you needs before God’s throne all day. I will continue to pray for you and your dad and the others who are touching so many lives for eternity.
I love how you all end your notes. My mom and I end every one of our conversations with love you more. Then the other one says, love you more. And together we say love you more. Most! We even have matching coffee cups that say love you more.
Nothing is better than knowing you are BELOVED by God, and that by believing in Jesus as our personal LORD and Savior, eternity with Him is our home. God so loved all, that we also can love others. No boundaries!
So glad you are rooted and growing in Him.
