  1. Kris, I will never forget the excitement in your face when you talked to me about the possibility of taking your grand daughter on this trip! God had really pricked your heart and He has been with you, Al and Ellie the whole way! Praying that you see God in new ways and that He reveals himself to you in the small details and the big moments. Praying for safety, health and changed lives!

    1. Hi Kristy! Thank you for your note and most of all your prayers. This is a definite stretch for us, but very good. We are seeing a lot of beautiful, beautiful scenery and people. Our home building got a long ways today, and we were all shocked, I think. I hope your week is going well at home as I know you’ve had a lot going on with a wedding and graduation….maybe with an empty house, you can take a deep breath this week.
PS; we are enjoying your daughter soooo much ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Friend! I keep holding my palms open, facing upward….ready to receive what God has for me. When I feel exhaused or downcast bc I’m tired, or stretched, I just turn my palms up and watch for the jewels. Thank you for your prayers, and for the darling gift bag for Ellie. She LOVED it, and the $20 was above and beyond. You blessed her socks off:)

    1. Ms Lisa,
You knew exactly what was coming our way; how hard it must’ve been to stay silent!! Well, we’re two days in, our house is built and stuccoed, and was so much fun to decorate the inside. This was the most fun for Ellie bc she is artsy and this was her spot to shine, as she can’t really drive a screw gun or do some of the more “manly” jobs. It’s been a joy watching her blossom this week:) So glad you prepped me like you did with your note and advice. Everything you told me to take has come in very handy. Blessings to you, friend. God bless you!
      Love,

    2. Hi Friend:)
What an emotional day! As best I can tell, 18 people made a commitment to Jesus today! The family we built a home for consisted of a dad, mom and 3 young children around 6yrs old to 1yr old. We each had a chance to tell them what an honor it was to make this home for them, and then they each spoke to us (through an interpreter, of course). It was so moving to hear the parents say how poor they are and how they would never hope for a home like this if left to their own devices. We brought many toys and things for the parents too, and they were overwhelmed. When they gave their lives to Christ, the mom wept so loudly and for so long. I just held her until she was cried out. It is amazing how emotions cross language barriers. But I’ll tell you, I am jealous (in a good way) of Marci Pyper’s ability to speak this language. She chats with them like it’s her first language, and it’s beautiful. Well, we are about to have devotions and hit the racks. I think we will all sleep like babies tonight. I hope you are well and having a good week. You’d be proud of your family here; they are beautiful…
      Love U,
      Kris

    1. Hi to all of you:)
You’d be so proud of Ellie! Every day she becomes more comfortable and engages more with the people and the culture. Today I got a cute video of her playing scissors, rock paper with some little kids. It’s so neat how some things transcend language barriers. Today we dedicated the homes we built to the people we built them for, and to God. Our family consisted of a dad, mom and 3 small children. We had an opportunity to tell them through an interpreter what an honor it was to build it and then they told us how moved they were by this gift. The father and mother both said how poor they are, that they would never have the ability on their own to have a house like this. The poverty here is heart wrenching. Then a pastor explained the plan of salvation to them and they had an opportunity to accept Jesus as their Savior. 18 people from 5 homes made a commitment to Christ!
Well, we’re about to do devotions and then off to bed.
Thank you so much for entrusting this beautiful daughter to us:)
      Love you all…
      Mom

  14. Good Morning, Friend:) (I miss my emoji’s)
I cannot believe it’s Sat already! Today is another medical day. Many of our people have a GI bug, and Robby wrote a hilarious song yesterday and sang it with his guitar entitled ‘Parasite’. We laughed so hard. Sadly, it was Emma who was hit the hardest, and Robby somewhat and multiple others. Everyone affected took meds right away and today our group is looking much better. I hope you had a marvelous week and have a great weekend. Al’s mom is in her last hours, I think, and his brother from FL came yesterday and his brother from AZ is on his way. We will see how God’s plan unfolds….
More anxious than ever to take Spanish from Marcy with you!
    Love You,
    Kris

  18. Hi Friend,
What a joy to share the week with Al, Ellie, Robby and Emma and all the others along on this trip. It certainly makes a tight group when you live in close quarters for a week. We are mid afternoon of our last day; this morning we did team building at very nice ranch. There was a ropes course and just some things conducive to relaxation and decompressing; hammocks (Al took a 2 hr nap), fishing, and just beautiful grounds to walk around with lawn chairs here and there to just chillax. Then the people there made a really awesome meal of steak, salad, corn on the cob, etc, which was such a treat after meals consisting largely of beans, rice, tortillas, etc. Now we are back at the base camp showering, packing bags for tomorrow and watching the rain roll through the mountains. Now that we are less than 24 hrs from going home, it sounds so good. Hope you have had a great week. Thought of you often. Thank you for holding us up in prayer this week and for blogging:)
